Fissure in the Democratic Party

https://www.jacobinmag.com/2019/07/democratic-party-pelosi-omar-trump   “At its root, then, the Democratic Party is more a contradiction than a coalition: a giant, lumbering political machine piloted by centrists and undergirded by corporate money, yet paradoxically the default vehicle for opposition to an increasingly feral and reactionary right”. (quote from above Jacobin article) This line is a bit flowery but I think it perfectly sums up the problem in the current political climate of the United States. It is a age old problem that has always plagued the left, the problem of us tending to eat each other and self-sabotage. The right has always been … Continue reading Fissure in the Democratic Party

Rant: Rise of Skywalker rumors

So I heard that the plot about Rey’s parents being nobodies is gonna get retconned. I am not surprised but still fairly annoyed at this. The toxic fanbase of Star Wars is gonna get a major retcon in the final episode of the his new trilogy and to be honest, they still will probably hate it. Honestly, I don’t know many people who didn’t really dislike this film and I am one of the few who enjoyed it that I know. I should emphasize that I do not love the movie but find it very fun. It is Star Wars … Continue reading Rant: Rise of Skywalker rumors

United States of Terrorism

At the southern border of the United States we have concentration camps. The bane of the Jewish peoples of Europe during the early 20th century has come back. Now let me be clear, these are not death camps. However, they are concentration camps and no less evil then the “internment camps” we imprisoned Japanese- American citizens following the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Trump administration and the Republican party are determined to spread hate and fear for the sake of staying in power. The treatment of prisoners in the camps at the border is inhumane and the attitude of border … Continue reading United States of Terrorism

My political stances:on language

I find it really important to be able to communicate effectively and be able to understand why certain people can’t actually get along. I prefer when people get along but when there is conflict I prefer to understand why this is happening. I despise people who lie to do what I consider evil things. I also prefer to be precise with my definitions but also have a tendency to not be, which is super confusing. I like the idea that things can be interconnected and this leaves me with a sense of awe and happiness. For instance, I believe economic … Continue reading My political stances:on language

My Political stances

I am writing out this in depth view of my political stances and ideals not just for the sake of any potential readers, but for my own sake as well. I feel like a good way to improve myself and understand where I am at is to write down what I am feeling and what I believe. I know this is frankly a bit self-centered and I am okay with that. I would prefer to understand the good and bad parts of my personality and my own values and view of the world then to never question myself. The rules … Continue reading My Political stances

It’s time to break the Republican’s backs figuratively

As the first two Democratic primary debates approach I am reminded of one of the biggest issue facing the Democratic party today. The disconnect between the base and the party is still there and is very visible. The election of left leaning social democrats like Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have been exciting and heartening but the power still lies with the corporate democrats who control the levers of power. Nothing short of a total takeover will suffice. It is also worth noting that should the left leaning dems take over the party, the fight will only be just beginning. … Continue reading It’s time to break the Republican’s backs figuratively

Free Speech absolutists are cowardly

This hyperbolic title I am sure, is very annoying to those of you on the left, who are also staunchly for free speech in all cases. I am writing this to inform you of why this is actually nothing more than fence sitting centrism in today’s polarizing political climate. Now, if you would like to be centrist and you do not agree with the idea that certain ideas are not acceptable to be entertained in today’s age, I reluctantly will say, okay. However, I do believe many folks on the left want a better world and agree with those of … Continue reading Free Speech absolutists are cowardly

Free Speech is bullshit: addendum

This entry is more off the cuff and will be less organized than normal. This is mostly just for me to speak directly to those on the left who are free speech absolutists and try to help them understand where those of us who disagree with them are coming from. Honestly,  I think we take the concerns of censorship just as seriously as you do. Social media giants have an oversized role in determining discourse and what is and is not acceptable. Employers also have too much power in being able to fire you for your belief systems. However,  at … Continue reading Free Speech is bullshit: addendum

Free Speech doesn’t exist

Does this title annoy you? Do you have a visceral gag reflex at the very notion that freedom of speech isn’t real? Do you politely disagree with me and decide that I am just a shitposter? Regardless of your reasoning on this subject I feel that this entry is for you and especially for folks living in the United States. I am writing this especially for the free speech absolutionists. Those folks who believe quite literally that even the worst people deserve to have their freedom to speak hateful bile that adds nothing to actual discourse. Yes it is for … Continue reading Free Speech doesn’t exist

Destiny: Centrist Streamer Extraordinare

Destiny is a great debater and has certainly proven himself as a capable opponent for the right. He is also fairly sociopathic (as he himself states) and is pro-capitalist. Now, for most of my life, i wasn’t pro-capitalist or pro-socialism. I don’t think you can really be pro-anything unless you understand the ideas and the facts on the ground, and think it is better than the alternatives. I can’t say I ever really liked capitalism but I certainly wasn’t anti-capitalist. I was indifferent to it. I was forced into it and now I hate it. I hate the intrinsically cruel … Continue reading Destiny: Centrist Streamer Extraordinare

Welcome to the Republic of Gilead

The fictional dystopian republic in “A Handmaid’s tale” written by Margaret Atwood, and recently a streaming series on Amazon shows the reality of what would happen if Christian Fundamentalists took over America. Now, it is important to recognize that the story is mainly focusing on the reality of women who no longer have self-determination, and that this fundamentalist hellscape would no doubt have many other horrific effects on other marginalized communities such as LGBT folks, but it is still hard not to feel angry when the world seems to descend into this madness day by day. As many states outlaw … Continue reading Welcome to the Republic of Gilead

Political Correctness is a dumb concept

Political correctness is such a dumb thing to be so enflamed by. Often, it is brought up to defend people’s right to say offensive things and discuss discredited and disgusting ideas without feeling bad for it. They expect to not receive any sort of backlash for horrible ideas and actions and use the supposed liberal love for openness to other points of view to defend truly horrific people. Freedom of speech is not freedom from societal responses to your speech and actions. Being in a society often means that you are not free from other people’s opinions and judgement. Sorry … Continue reading Political Correctness is a dumb concept
