Shade Reviews: Scary Stories you tell in the dark 2019

Scary Stories you tell in the Dark 2019 Dir: Andre Ovredal Producer: Guillermo Del Toro Starring: Zoe Margaret Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Dean Norris etc Based on the popular children’s horror anthologies of the same name, this movie is the best that PG-13 gets folks. I never read these books as a kid but I wish I had as this movie not only unraveled an entire anthology in the background of a plot, the film successfully uses excellent creature designs and effective world building to give you quite a good time. I must say the premise of the movie … Continue reading Shade Reviews: Scary Stories you tell in the dark 2019

Shade Reviews: Crawl

Crawl (2019) Dir: Alexander Aja Starring: Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper Producer: Sam Raimi Crawl is a 2019 creature feature that pits an estranged daughter and her Father against a bunch of alligators during a category 5 hurricane. This movie was easily the most competent killer alligator movie I have ever seen. To be fair, there are not too many competent killer gator movies out there, and that is fine with me as normally creature features are meant to be B movie fun. I am a fan of so bad it is good type movies but this is not one … Continue reading Shade Reviews: Crawl

Dias de los muertos: Lunes pt 1-4

Carter punched his younger brother in the side hard. The younger boy cried out in pain and squealed. “Hey grasshopper, we are here” Carter said while grinning like a loon. Ken, blinked the tears out of his eyes and looked around to see the fields of wine stalks that made up the vineyards surrounding his grandfather’s ranch. Ken and his elder brother Carter were going with their eldest sister Sayu to stay at their grandparent’s place for a month. Neither of the boys wanted to go, but it was important to their grandparents and so it was important to their … Continue reading Dias de los muertos: Lunes pt 1-4

Dias de los muertos: Domingo 1+2

Authors note: I will be finishing this story next. I hope you enjoy the finale when it happens and if you haven’t read it yet here is part 1 and 2 for your reading pleasure. Cheers, Shade   June 21, 2054 My Darling, Every day that I remain away from you is a horror beyond anything that I could possibly have predicted. I said I was willing to go to any lengths to procure the cure for you and I meant it, but the strain of being away from you and the children is already starting to get to me. … Continue reading Dias de los muertos: Domingo 1+2

Us: social commentary?

Us(2019) is a great new film that premiered last weekend. The main crux is that people have human doubles (called the tethered) that live underground and are literally forced to do whatever the original person is doing at all times. It is never explained how this has happened and this is all for the better. However, could there be social commentary hidden under this premise that arguably has some similarities to older horror films. The Day of the Dead comparisons are apt, considering the apocalyptic nature of the movie but at the same time, the specifics of the doppleganger’s plans … Continue reading Us: social commentary?

Us movie review

I loved Jordan Peele’s directorial debut, Get Out. I admire his ability to write, direct and produce excellent movies that keep me entertained all the way through. I didn’t even know this movie was another one of his until I got to the theater as I hadn’t seen any trailers and was going with a friend. I got really excited when I saw who directed it. I rarely go to see horror movies with friends to the theater because many of my friends don’t really care for it. I really liked this movie. I have to say I wasn’t really … Continue reading Us movie review

Ghostly Trio: Good Ghost Movies

ZOIKS SCOOOB ITS A GHO GHO GHOOOOOOOOST I love ghosts don’t you like ghosts? Before I start sounding like Jack Fenton and making bad ghost puns, let me just say, these movies are just three I really enjoyed. If you don’t like them, that’s cool. I like movies everyone hates all the time, and that doesn’t take away from how I feel about them. The great thing about all forms of art, is that your own likes and dislikes, are subjective. Now here we go : Insidious(2010) Holy boooooooooooo merang, Batman, this was an enjoyable film. There is something really … Continue reading Ghostly Trio: Good Ghost Movies

Favorite Horror films: 1408

Horror films rock my socks. I used to be terrified but now I am in love with the genre. I believe horror is so primal and deep that it is the primary way of creating compelling characters and to have deep emotional storylines. This is not solely a horror movie thing, but horror often is not held up as the highest art. I have decided to name a few of my favorite horror films here and hope you enjoy. 1408 (2009) An adaptation of a Stephen King short story, this movie follows Michael Enslin(John Cusack) who is a skeptical author … Continue reading Favorite Horror films: 1408

Knock Knock: Disappointing Pizza

I am a fan of Eli Roth, and I was looking forward to seeing Knock Knock. I admit as a young man, the attractive females were a part of the reason I wanted to see the film. But that doesn’t mean that I cannot recognize a good film. Eli Roth however, is a hit or miss kind of guy, in my opinion. I really enjoyed Cabin Fever and thought it was easily his best film I’ve seen that he has directed. I even sort of enjoyed Aftershock, as it was tense and a fast moving ride. I don’t hate dark … Continue reading Knock Knock: Disappointing Pizza

Dias de los Muertos Sabado (second draft)

I am writing this in order to warn anybody who will listen. I know people will automatically assume I am a cuck or that I am someone who has turned my back on what makes the red pill community what it is but I don’t care. Even if there is only the slightest chance someone might heed this warning, it is necessary. I find it ironic that for all of my bluster and anger it took me until my life was in danger to figure out my mistakes. Like you all, I was a member of the red pill community. … Continue reading Dias de los Muertos Sabado (second draft)
