Shade Reviews: Scary Stories you tell in the dark 2019

Scary Stories you tell in the Dark 2019 Dir: Andre Ovredal Producer: Guillermo Del Toro Starring: Zoe Margaret Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Dean Norris etc Based on the popular children’s horror anthologies of the same name, this movie is the best that PG-13 gets folks. I never read these books as a kid but I wish I had as this movie not only unraveled an entire anthology in the background of a plot, the film successfully uses excellent creature designs and effective world building to give you quite a good time. I must say the premise of the movie … Continue reading Shade Reviews: Scary Stories you tell in the dark 2019

Shade reviews: 47 meters down Uncaged 2019

47 Meters Down: Uncaged Dir: Johannes Roberts Starring: Sophie Nelisse, Corinne Fox, Brianne Tju, Sistine Rose Stallone etc Another shark movie and a sequel to the decent 47 Meters down, this movie was good popcorn fodder but doesn’t rise to the heights of shark movie greats like Jaws, Deep Blue Sea, or The Shallows. This movie is a thrilling, fast paced experience with jump scares and it doesn’t really need to be anything else. This is the film debut of Sylvester Stallone’s daughter and also has Jamie Fox’s daughter as the co lead. The film’s story beats are fairly similar … Continue reading Shade reviews: 47 meters down Uncaged 2019

Favorite Ace Attorney characters complete

Ace attorney is one of my favorite game series of all time. I enjoy the characters and story most of all and while it is more of a visual novel than a traditional video game, these games have truly changed my life and are a comfort to me in times I am down. Part of my college thesis was introducing ways to incorporate fictional characters into therapy by using the strengths and weakness of the client and the fictional person they admire to encourage growth. These are my favorite characters in the Ace attorney series and its four spin off … Continue reading Favorite Ace Attorney characters complete

Favorite Ace Attorney cases 5-1

5. 6-5 The finale for the most recent game, Spirit of Justice, was the last Ace Attorney game to make me tear up. It is really ironic that Apollo Justice got more character development in games where his name wasn’t in the title but that is how it is. Not only does the final case have you literally facing the Queen in court, but it is also the eve of an actual revolution. The central theme of passing the torch and Apollo’s coming of age is truly memorable and I couldn’t feel better for the guy. I was always not … Continue reading Favorite Ace Attorney cases 5-1

I must have played it and I will be ranking them based on story, character, replay value, music, and presentation. Now let us march to our own drums and remember: TOGETHER WE RIDE!!!. 5. Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon Nintendo DS This is a remake of two older fire emblem games and stars the titular hero king Marth, who was introduced to North America in Super Smash Bros Melee as a playable … Continue reading Best Fire Emblem games I’ve played

Dad of War: a splendid journey

Boy did I never figure I’d be coming back to God of War andĀ  thinking that the newest title was the best one. God of War 4 or just God of War for Playstation 4, is a somber, beautiful, and violent journey through the realms of Norse mythology. Kratos, after killing the Gods of Olympus has tried to settle down and move past his previous sins and now must journey with his estranged son, Atreus to scatter his late wife’s ashes on the highest peak. However, things are never that simple for the former Spartan as his very presence and … Continue reading Dad of War: a splendid journey

Free Speech doesn’t exist

Does this title annoy you? Do you have a visceral gag reflex at the very notion that freedom of speech isn’t real? Do you politely disagree with me and decide that I am just a shitposter? Regardless of your reasoning on this subject I feel that this entry is for you and especially for folks living in the United States. I am writing this especially for the free speech absolutionists. Those folks who believe quite literally that even the worst people deserve to have their freedom to speak hateful bile that adds nothing to actual discourse. Yes it is for … Continue reading Free Speech doesn’t exist

List of my top 7 MCU Films

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a Hollywood staple since the 2008 success Iron Man starring the incredible Robert Downey Jr. After Endgame finished it felt like the beginning of a new era for Marvel movies and one wonders if the writers can reignite the magic of what I will call the first three phases of the Marvel cinematic Universe, or what I will also call the Infinity saga. I have watched marvel films sinceĀ  the early 2000’s era, in which these films were much more bombastic and silly, (which is great), and I love the variety of stories and … Continue reading List of my top 7 MCU Films

Shade Reviews: Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse

Spiderman:into the spiderverse was the best Marvel film released this year. I know that’s a very big claim considering the other titan that is Avengers: Infinity war. However, I teared up, laughed and was charmed by this living comic book of a movie. And that is the best way to describe the vibrant, frenetic, living, breathing, animation of this film. Sony Pictures, who still cling desperately onto the copyright of arguably one of the most valuable superhero franchises out there, had had more misses than hits and more often that not, the best is normally just okay. However, this movie … Continue reading Shade Reviews: Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse

Ace Attorney: My favorite characters

The Ace Attorney series immediately won me over with its brilliant music and engrossing storyline. But without the crazy and memorable characters the series wouldn’t be nearly as enjoyable. Each character is incredibly odd and fleshed out and some even have their own theme music. Here are my top ten overall characters in the Ace Attorney series. I will be including every entry including the side series starring Miles Edgeworth. My only rules are: The character has to make an impact on me, as the player, and I must be able to at least explain briefly why Limit the number … Continue reading Ace Attorney: My favorite characters

Phoenix Wright: Justice for All Review

Before I continue I would like to issue some corrections to my original timeline of dates for the Ace Attorney series. The Game Boy advance titles came out in the early 2000s and the DS remakes came out in the mid to late 2000s. The visual novel games were also released on multiple platforms including, iOS, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo 3DS, and in the future the Nintendo Switch. The second entry in the Ace Attorney series was released in 2007 for the Nintendo DS and this is the version I played. The series is once again a port of the Game … Continue reading Phoenix Wright: Justice for All Review
