An apology

To my esteemed readers, I have had issues blogging consistently recently and for that I do apologize. I have had ideas mulling around in my head and have been dealing with a bout of depression. I will try to blog more consistently so that I have a good record approaching Halloween. My goal is to have at least three of my Muertos stories complete by then. Or at least, I would like to have drafts of all three. Understand that for everything I blog on here, I am always trying to improve whatever I post. Cheers and have a spooky … Continue reading An apology

ITS OCTOBER HELLLLLLLLLLLL YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. Sorry for a lack of posts recently but I wanted to make sure that I had good material to write and was in the right mood. For my birthday I will be going to the beach and hopefully being near the beach will spark my creativity. If nothing else, I will have an updated and better version of Dias de los Muertos: Sabado. I have gotten some great advice from other people and have a pretty good idea on how to make the story better. If you liked that story, I hope the new version will … Continue reading Update

Author’s thoughts

Hey fam, this is your author Shade here reflecting on my first major short story I’ve completed on here. The Dias de los Muertos series of short stories is something I’ve been dreaming up for a while but this first story is very spicy. In the world today, the crisis facing young men is quite staggering. However, many do not take a path that I personally would. The success of right wing crazies around the world is partially due to alienation and the inability of young men to make their way in the world. I sympathize as, I too have … Continue reading Author’s thoughts

Thesis Inspiration part 1-2

The longer I’ve been out of college the longer I have had time to wish I hadn’t lost a copy of my thesis paper. I really wanted to expand on it because I felt excited about it and felt that not only would it be helpful for others, it would help me. Call me selfish if you want, but part of the inspiration was trying to understand what made me tick more. However, to connect with others effectively, I am a strong believer in understanding yourself at some level. First of all, the basic idea behind my thesis was that, … Continue reading Thesis Inspiration part 1-2

Part 2 Media Medium Analysis

No this isn’t the MMA you are looking for- Spock probably, in Mordor.   Now this analysis will jump around quite a bit but the central ideas that animated it will remain intact. Basically¬† I want to help people understand why the different ways of telling stories do have fundamental differences that make the transition between them dodgy at best. The structure and method of conveying the story change and therefore you can expect the story to be adapted to best fit the new medium. The most famous truism of book lovers is that the book is always better than … Continue reading Part 2 Media Medium Analysis

Media mediums and their pros and cons pt 1

Talk about a fun title!! Now in case the title was too vague, which it probably was, I will now explain what I mean by it. Over the history of storytelling, there have been many forms of presenting stories to prospective people, and they have been told in so many different ways. Today we probably think of the different forms of media as written, spoken, visual and combinations of such. However, it gets way more specific when we speak of comics versus novels or TV shows versus movies. How does the medium change the story or the limits of whether … Continue reading Media mediums and their pros and cons pt 1

Thesis Inspiration part 2

The importance of a good teacher and positive role model, are super important and resonate with me. The importance of feeling like you are not alone and also understanding that part of growing up, is that no matter who you look up, they are human and have flaws. Dumbledore resonates with me because his flaws do not take away from how important he is to me as a character in the Harry Potter series. Honestly, his flaws make him better. Dumbledore taught me, that your flaws are part of who you are but that they are simply shadows of your … Continue reading Thesis Inspiration part 2

Muertos Update

Hey fam how’s it going!! This is my official update for my mini anthology of short horror stories I will posting on this blog. I am trying to be as careful as possible and trying to put in effort in creating a coherent and well structured group of stories. Currently, I am working on part 3 of one of them. Releasing them in parts allows me to write by the seat of my pants but also give it more time to actually feel authentic. There is a good chance that I will be restructuring earlier parts if I feel that … Continue reading Muertos Update

The Orphan father paradox

This critique has been something I have been thinking about for a long time and it will be good to get this out in literary form. Many protagonists in stories are heroes who seek grandeur are orphans. In many ways this effects how they grow up and develop. However, it isn;t too often that we delve into what it means for the orphan to become a parent. The two characters I will contrasting are Harry Potter and Uzumaki Naruto. Both were children of well loved people who died when they were babies. Both faced hardship and loneliness due to difficult … Continue reading The Orphan father paradox
